Our debt to the Society

Sip at your morning cup of tea. Mark the tea leaves, sugar, milk, water and the heat energy. Think of the thousands of people who have worked to produce, package, market and transport these commodities to your lips. Think of the thousand other things that you consume during the day and for which your fellow beings have worked hard.

Yes. You got your body and mind from your parents. Your ability to see, hear, think and speak was inherited from them only. But there are lot many precious add-ons that you received from your fellow beings - the society. The meanings of the words you speak and hear are, for example, given by the society. We have the benefit of millions of skills, arts and innovations made over history. Our entire civilization, culture and all the song and dance are gifts from society. Are we aware? Do we know our debt to the society? Yes, we do. Don't we, before doing anything, look around and check if what we are doing is acceptable to the society. Yes, we do. Great! Let us keep it up.
